With the new standard 13849 kicking in to replace 954, everything is about achieving required Performance Levels. I am using the free Sistema software, and thoroughly confused as to how ASI Safety at Work fits in. Some manufacturers say that the use of ASI SAW means that all components are above and beyond PLe and therfore the very use of ASI SAW makes your system comply . . . I think not!
Where can I find a library of MTTFd and such for ASI components, as getting these required numbers together is like pulling teeth!!!

Dear Paul,

we have a library of the Bihl+Wiedemann AS-Interface products for Sistema. This should help you a lot with your calculation and I am pretty sure some other manufacturers also have a library for Sistema. If you need our library please let me know.

Kind Regards,

Hi Paul

As we don’t have safety products I can’t help, however I have received this from Paul Hingley of SIEMENS.

Siemens has all the relevant data available for their range of safety products including Asi Safe products. Asi Safe products are capable of achieving SIL 3 and Ple with regards to the new standards ISO 13849 and IEC62061. I would suggest that 62061 be applied as Asi Safe uses software and contains multiple safety devices. Siemens has an evaluation software available that can provide documentation for 13849 and 62061 which the Sistema software cannot do. This evaluation software is available free on the web and it contains all the necessary safety data for Siemens devices and you can also include 3rd party devices as well providing you can obtain the correct information.

Paul
